Craftsman Design Studios was created the way many companies are. A request was made by someone for the now owner of CDS, Alex Brown, to design the renovation of their small Craftsman Bungalow. He told them no. He was too busy and he had a commitment to his current employer. Twice more he was approached by the persistent homeowner. They had already had plans done by another designer, but they were very disappointed. They knew from work they had seen that he was the one they wanted to complete the designs for their cherished Bungalow. This time he agreed to do the designs. He melded his vision with theirs, and created the plans for a renovation that would keep the Craftsman style very much alive in this little bungalow, and at the same time, provide twenty-first century living spaces that their family could thrive in.Other requests followed. Then requests turned into referrals. Soon the amount of design work that Mr. Brown was doing justified the purchase of new design software and more powerful computers. He decided it was time to make it official. And Craftsman Design Studios was born. Alex Brown has been involved in historical architecture design and construction since 1992. Although the scope of styles he has studied and created designs for has varied from Victorian to Contemporary, his love of the Craftsman style is what drives him. Growing up, he hung his hat in the Houston Heights, one of the largest historical neighborhoods in the nation. Comprised mainly of Craftsman Bungalows, this neighborhood has instilled a passion for the Craftsman style in Mr. Brown. And he would like to pass this on to you. |
